Classic Hello sports fans welcome to good ole Council Bluffs, Iowa. When I left Dallas, Texas this morning it was 74 degrees, when I arrived here it is was - 5. What is going on? In 8 hours it dropped 79 degrees, sweet. We went from sunshine to rain to sleet to ice to snow, but the good thing is I made it here safely. They had a good turn out here, and I am looking forward to bowling. I haven’t made it to the top 32 since I made the show, and I want to change that this week. Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. After practicing yesterday, I had good reactions with all my pieces. Everything struck, which is a good thing. Today seemed a little different. My Widows and Vibes seem to be the balls of choice. I started with my Vibe pin under my ring finger with a small hole, because I could control the pocket better. I sacrificed carrying for control of the pocket. The first 4 games, I didn’t have more then 3 strikes in a row. I was losing ground so I switched to my Widow, pin over my ring finger, no hole. Bad choice, I shot a blazing 167. Well back to the Vibe, where I finished with 213 and 238. I am 50 pins outside the number, with a 167 game. Time to step-it-up for the 2nd block. During the break I drilled up a Doom, pin down between the ring and middle finger, no hole. That ball would continue thru the pocket when my others wouldn’t.
Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. After practice I liked the look of the Doom. I threw a lot strikes in practice and felt like I can make a run with this ball. The 1st game I shoot 164 with 2 splits and no doubles. They started to push too much thru the heads and finish behind the pocket, so I switched to my Widow. The 2nd game I shot 184, with a 7 – 10 split in the ninth frame, for some reason I couldn’t knock the pins down. I am watching Riga, Parker, and Jason average 240 while I can’t even get a double. As a matter of fact, I didn’t get a double until the 4th game. That has never happened to me before out here, however after I got my first double my scores came up. I shoot 227, 241, 238, and 226. I moved from dead last to 57th place. Another week I didn’t make it to match play.
This is starting to get a little serious now. I can’t rely on my finish in Vegas to get me thru to next year. If I want to make the exempt field I have got to get things going in the right direction. I don’t know what has happened to my game, but I will find out and fix it by Parkersburg, W.V., our next stop. How can something so right lead to something so wrong. I’ve got to stop the bleeding, because we are running out of tournaments and bowling the tour trials again next year is not an option. See you next week.
