BILLY "O"'S JOURNAL

Columbia 300 Classic Babylon, New York

December 13, 2006 – Shark Pattern

Hello sports fans!  Billy "O) here at Babylon Lanes in Babylon New York.  This week we are bowling on the Shark pattern (43 ft of oil).  Time to sand my bowling balls.  Out of all the patterns, this is the most demanding.  That’s cool because scores will be lower.

Wednesday, December 13, 2006 - 4:00pm – The last time I bowled on the Shark pattern I used my Hawgzillas, this time my No Mercy’s, Black Widows, and my Pains were the balls of choice.  Everything was sandblasted with either 180 or 360 Abralon pads.  After 90 min. of practice the only game plan I had was making sure I didn’t miss my spares because I knew I wouldn’t be throwing a lot of strikes.  Wish me luck in qualifying.

Thursday, December 14, 2006 - 11:00am – This time last week I couldn’t sleep for anticipation of bowling on the Cheetah pattern, this week I tried to oversleep so I would miss bowling on the Shark pattern.  “Darn, didn’t work, oh well.  The ball of choice, my Pain, pin below my ring finger CG kicked out, with a crater hole, sanded with 180 Abralon.  This ball started up sooner, and rolled smooth.  I had a consistent reaction, 227, 183, 266 talking about somebody surprised, I thought I was Superman.  However, when  I went to the other side of the bowling center, that ball overreacted.  So the next ball I went to was my Black Widow with the same drilling and surface.  Now if I can shoot 2 deuces back to back, everything would be alright.  That’s OK I grinded out for 80 over the 1st seven games.  Not bad I’m in 24th place

6:00pm – OH NO!  They were already tight, they made them tighter?  You’re going to make me lose my mind up in here, up in here!  I have no idea how I’m going to hold on to the plus pins I have.  Well time to break out the grind game (lookout for #1, and try not to step in #2).  When the smoke cleared I went -2 pins for the second block, finished in 37th place, my low game was 177.  However, I was the highest qualifying lefty!

This is not down time for me, I'm going back to the lab, my physical game and spare game is A-1.

But, I haven't made a show yet so I have to strengthen my mental game.

Wait until you see the difference!

See you in Reno, NV, January 3, 2007

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
