The word for Thursday is “OIL”, lots of “OIL” the only ball that worked for me was my Hawgzilla with the pin above the ring finger.  I played with one ball and played one line, 21 to 17.  Playing that line kept me out of trouble, if I was a little light I would leave the bucket, if I was a little high I left the 4 -7 or 6 – 10 not many splits.  I would say this was one of by best performance to date on the PBA tour.  I was proud of myself.  There’s nothing much to write about because I didn’t have to change anything.  My ball did not hook at all.  So I just had to hit my mark every shot.  My shot making ability was A-1 and I was 100% on my spares during the round of 64.  Job well done!  I finished in 22nd place after two rounds.

Match play was a different story.  I knew I had to throw some strikes.  At least I thought I did.  First game I start out with the old 21 -17 grinding as always then I saw spares and I double here and there was not enough.  I needed my ball to finish harder on the back end.  So, the 9th and 10th frame I switched to my Black Widow, bad decision.

Game 2, back to the Hawgzilla back to trusty 21 – 17 I decided that I was going to die playing that line for better or worst.  I was not moving.  Then all of a sudden I lost my mind my spare making ability slipped into a mild coma.  I chopped the 4 off the 7 and had a chance to put him away and I dropped the ball. You have to make the shot when you have it.  I cannot miss spares I must strike out when I have the opportunity.  That’s what wins titles, your shot making ability.

Game 3 I started with a vengeance 3 bagger, I’m off to the races. Spare in the fourth  6-8 in the 6th frame no problem shake it off, keep your head in the game.  Double cool, I’m back in it!  What happens next five count wash out I threw the ball to fast and skid past the break point.  Tried to make the spare and got 2 pins. Spared in the 10th frame loser again!

Game 4, the wind was out of my sails.  I could not get over loosing that last game.  It was too much.  Although I tried I could tell that my heart was not in the match anymore.  If Brian gave me the game I would take it.  But the only person who was feeling charitable was me.  Match over!  The shark pattern wins this time, next time will be a different story.  I will be practicing on my spares if you miss one you need to shoot ten in practice.  See you next week.  Oh yea congratulations to me for making it to the round of 32 for the first time.  See you next week!
